Candidate for APS Board, District 6

I’m Michael A. Hopkins, and I’m throwing my hat in the ring as a candidate for the
Atlanta Public Schools Board, District 6. As a fifth-generation Georgian with over 30
years of residence in the Atlanta metropolitan area, my roots run deep across the
neighborhoods that define our city’s identity.

My career as a community activist spans more than 25 years, driven by a steadfast
commitment to ensuring every voice in our neighborhood is heard—and every child has
access to the education they deserve. I furthered my education right here at home,
earning a degree in Early Childhood Development at Atlanta Technical College, where I
excelled—earning Dean’s List honors nearly every semester—before continuing my
studies at Atlanta Metropolitan College.
